Duane BoothFire ChiefDuane Booth started his quest in emergency services in working for Adams Co. EMS graduating his EMT class in April 1990. Duane Joined the Geneva Fire Dept. in 1996 where he served as a Firefighter, Fire Investigator and Fire Instructor. In 1997 he graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and worked for the Geneva Police Dept. for almost 10 years. Duane moved to private industry where he worked for Navistar, Inc. as Loss Prevention Manager, Fire Inspector, Instructor, and Emergency Response Team Chief. Duane has been a member of Kennard Fire Dept. for over 10 years where he has previously served as Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, and Instructor. Duane currently work for IU Health in Indianapolis.
Duane lives with his son Tyler who shares his dad’s passion for the fire service and can usually be found at the station helping out. In addition, Duane is active in Boy Scouts with Tyler and is an Eagle Scout. Duane is a proponent of training and safety of firefighters. Duane holds several certifications including Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, Safety Officer, Hazmat operations, EMT-B and others. |
Ron HuffmanAssistant Fire ChiefRonald (Ron) Huffman started his fire service career in 1985 as a volunteer firefighter with the Shirley Vol. Fire Department, when he moved he joined the Kennard Vol. Fire Department in 1986 and is still a member. From 1978 to 1986 he worked as a mechanic until the garage closed and was then hired at Paul Akers Inc., a propane and anhydrous ammonia engineering company. While there he worked as a service tech building, repairing and servicing propane and ammonia equipment. Then in 1989 he was hired as a career firefighter on the City of New Castle Fire Department. Ron has spent 30 years at New Castle serving in the following capacities: Firefighter, Mechanic, Engineer, Lieutenant, Battalion Chief, Fire Investigator and Hazardous Materials Advisor.
Ron has been married to his wife Cindy for over 30 years, has two children and two grandkids. He’s a member of Browns Chapel Wesleyan Church and had served as a board member of the Henry County United Fund, Chairman of the Henry County Local Emergency Planning Committee (since 1999) and the Director of the Henry County Office of Emergency Management (since 2000). Ron is a strong advocate of training and responder safety, as the Counties Emergency Management Director he has been instrumental in the design and creation of the County’s Emergency Services Training Center. Mr. Huffman holds several certifications including Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector, Safety Officer, Hazmat Technician, EMT-B, Rope Rescue Technician, PIO and more. |
Jared HendersonCaptainCaptain Henderson resides in Kennard with his wife Melissa and two sons Ben & Brantley and has been a member of the Kennard community for over 30 years. Jared is the owner of H&S timber Services llc. Logging Company. Jared has been a member of Kennard Fire Department since 2008. He is currently certified as a Mandatory Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations along with various other certifications & training. Jared is a graduate of Tri High School. His hobbies include doing anything with his children, serving the community, racing, golf, bowling & hunting.
